Lesson for Life 1

“Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success” - Proverbs 3:5-6

When our attitude reaches the point where we trust more in ourselves than in God, twin temptations that lead to a shipwreck suddenly confront us.

One is pride. This is an unhealthy arrogance that slips into our thinking when things are going great in our lives. With that king of thinking we become convince that we are in control of our own world. Be watchful with your thinking.

Second temptation is despair. It can also slips into our hearts when we face the difficulties and setbacks of life that are outside of our control - economic downturn, illness, etc.

Trusting God simply means acknowledging that He is the one source of all good gifts and success. He is the only safe refuge when life is going out of control. A child’s humility is one of trust we should learn to develop (Matthew 18:3-4). It pleases God when we trust Him as a child trust and depends on his father.

James points out that trials test and prove our faith, but we don’t have to wait for challenging moments to begin trusting God with our entire life. Today as you learn to trust Him, He will directs your steps in the most fulfilling paths of our lives.

TO THINK ABOUT:

  1. -Do you have confidence that God will take care of you and provide what you need - even when life is difficult?

  2. -When things go your way, do you acknowledge that God is the giver of the good gifts?

  3. -Do you ever wait for hard times to come before you to turn to God for help?
