Lesson for Life 2

No other book has had a greater impact on world history than the bible. Since Gutenberg invented the printing press in 1450 in order to print God’s word for common people, it has impacted every area of life, from education, government, family, and church structure. But above all those, most importantly it has impacted millions of people to a closer relationship with God.

Why is this bible so important to us? What are the benefits we can get from it?

  1. a.God’s word sustains and grow our spiritual life. Ephesians 5:26 says it is like a refreshing water. Proverbs 4:22 says it’s like a medicine to our heart. And Matthew 4:4 says it is our daily bread.

  2. b.God’s word keeps us from sin. If more Christians read, meditate, and live by the word, fewer would fall in the trap of temptation

  3. c.God’s word is more powerful than evil. When Jesus was in the wilderness and was tempted by Satan, He overcame evil with God’s word. You can also rebuke and defeat the lies of the enemy by speaking the word of God.

  4. d.God’s word makes us wise. Through the Bible we can test everything and know what God’s will is for our lives (Romans 12:2). Many people say they know to know the perfect will of God, but without knowing the word of God, it is impossible to know what is the will of God for us. We cannot separate the will of God from the word of God. God will never reveal to us that contradict with His written word.

God’s word is enduring and will help us to see our destiny, purpose of life. And most importantly, that word of God will guide us into eternal life with God.

TO THINK ABOUT:

  1. -How often do you read the Bible?

  2. -Do you truly believe that God speaks to people through His word today?

  3. -Do you find the Bible to be comforting and strengthening or confusing and difficult? Why?
