Lesson for Life 3

“I know what I am planning for you, “says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future” - Jeremiah 29:11

Prophet Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet. Imagine losing everything you hold dearly in your heart - your family, home, country, church, maybe even your faith and confidence. Jeremiah was very sad and anguish over what had happened to his nation, people of Israel. King Nebuchadnezzar had conquered the kingdom of Judah, destroying everything include the wall of Jerusalem and the temple built by King Solomon.

It’s really a hard blow for the people of Israel. They were pretty much lost everything. Their strongest and most educated people were led as captives to serve the conquering king while the rest were left behind to build city for their conqueror.

Like Job who had lost future and family; like Joseph who was captive in Egypt, despair reigned in the heart of Jeremiah - his hope was lost. How could he think of himself as God’s chosen prophet under such circumstances?

In the midst of his hopelessness, this young prophet was chosen and called to speak for God and proclaim a new promise - that God had a future for Israel. This was not an easy thing to do for Jeremiah. But because of his obedience, finally he saw the fulfillment of that promise of God to Israel.

Do things look miserable in your life right now? Are you flooded with insecurity about your future? Remember the life of Jeremiah, just as God had a plan for His people, He also has a plan for you. His plan is real and He never lie about His promise. God is trustworthy to make His plans happen in your life. Obey Him no matter what... and in due time He will make His plan come to pass.

TO THINK ABOUT:

Have you ever sensed God leading you to take a new path that will change your future?
