Lesson for Life 4

All around us, integrity is crumbling. There are too many examples of dishonesty to ignore and this is a huge life issue. Without integrity, life is ruined. It sustains nation, it preserves family, and it builds future.

What does the Bible says about integrity?

  • It means treating people fairly and honestly (Proverbs 16:11). Any gain from cheating is sure to be temporary and it always destroys trust.
  • It means giving our words and keeping them (Proverbs 24:38). Many want to please people and say what they want to hear. But that is not the way God wants us to have integrity. Be direct and honest up front because your reputation is at stake.
  • It is more valuable than riches (Proverbs 10:2). Remember that true wealth comes from a true character.
  • It sets a good example (Titus 2:7). Show those around you that integrity is always the best policy!
  • It will be rewarded (Psalms 41:12). We may not receive immediate rewards for our integrity, but we will be rewarded with a peaceful conscience for living right.
  • Because the Lord hates lack of integrity (Zechariah 8:16-17). Bottom line is we have been put on earth to praise God. IF He hates... a very strong word, cheating, then we don’t please Him when we practice it.
To think about:
How much integrity do you see on display in our culture? Where you work and live?
Have you ever compromised on your values and beliefs? How did that make you feel?

Steps to take

Begin now to work on a personal value statement that declares what can’t be compromised in your life.

Put it on an index card and keep in your wallet for your reminder!
